Millions of years have passed

Since the stars lit up the nights

Millions more shall pass away.

Still they'll be shining all beauty and light

When I was young I saw the heavens

And I learned about the shining stars

How they lived their lives by giving light

Till they burned out like a fire

I hoped my life would be as gentle and strong

But now I look back somewhere

I must have gone wrong.

When I grew I found ways

To get out to things I couldn't face

Living my life half-heartedly

(And) for a while I had it made

But there came a time I couldn't run any more

I found myself myself and I was reborn

Since I faced that truth, I'll never go away

I'm hoping to live life gentle and strong.

And now, as I watch the heavens

The breath of life shines in the stars

Living their lives by giving light

Till they burn out like a fire.
